Adversity Helps To Overcome Limits

Adversity helps to overcome limits

The most difficult limits to break and overcome are those of our mind. Anthony Robbins, one of the most famous life coaches and motivational trainers today and who has contributed most to personal change over the past 30 years, suggests that success is 80% dependent on psychology and the remaining 20% on strategy..

If the limits of strategy or method are usually studied and analyzed, the mental limits go almost unnoticed in a person’s profile. Mental limits as such do not actually exist, we create them.

The more mental limitations we have, the worse our self-image will be. Our limits distort self-esteem and this affects the results we get. We act on how we conceive of ourselves.

Is adversity an ally?

In case of adversity, we have two options: try to dodge it or face it. We are convinced that a life without difficulty is a sterile life. Each of us is the result of what we have learned in complicated situations.

Difficult situations are the scenario that takes us out of the comfort zone towards new, more interesting circumstances. The zone beyond the comfort zone allows us to expand, reveals traits of our personality and resources that we did not know up to that moment, makes us transform walls into passages.

When adversity calls, let us remember the words of the father of Psychology, Sigmund Freud: “I was a lucky man, nothing in life was easy for me”.

Live with limits

The only way to eliminate our mental limitations is by questioning them or challenging them. First, before testing ourselves, we need to consider whether what we have been thinking and believing for a certain period of time is true. In other words, we must seek in reality, and not within our limits, true proofs that prove that what we think is correct.

Once our limits are questioned, we must try to understand if we have ever challenged them, when, how and what prompted us to do so. If we haven’t done it before, we should ask ourselves why and also what we need to do it now.

To be able to challenge our limits, it is necessary to ask ourselves what would happen if we decided to break them. It’s a simple question, accompanied by the image of us challenging our limits, which can help us put aside fear of the unknown. And above all, let’s ask ourselves what would happen if we didn’t do anything. In fact, we already know the answer to this question; if we don’t do anything, it probably doesn’t change anything.

It is important to begin to become aware of what we can change in our mind. Simply adding “more” to the sentence “I can’t do it” is a small change that generates a very positive effect on an unconscious level. This added word opens up the possibility of achieving what we have not achieved so far. Remember, challenging your limits is the first step to overcoming them.
