7 Tips To Better Withstand Pressure

7 tips to withstand pressure better

We all go through moments when it seems to us that nothing is going right. We believe we cannot reach our goals, the world seems to fall upon us and we have the feeling that no one is around us. It is very easy to sink into destructive tunnels when we experience bad times, things get worse and worse and we can’t see a way out.

While it is true that it is easier to do things that make us pessimistic, it is equally true that it is possible to reverse this trend. For this, keep in mind the following tips:

1) Take a break. Don’t be too hard on yourself. When you make a mistake or fail to get a job done on time, you will surely think of similar past experiences and fall into despair. If you are having a bad day and you realize that you are judging yourself too negatively, stop, take a break, and resume doing what you were doing only later.

2) Exercise. While it may seem strange to you, a great way to end a catastrophic day is to get up and go for a run (or just walk, if that’s enough for your body). If you can’t get out, get up from your chair and do some stretching exercises and breathe deeply. Remember that the brain needs enough oxygen to function properly and make the necessary connections. Don’t underestimate it!

3) Call your friends or loved ones. If you find it difficult to find them, then pick up the phone and call them. There is nothing like human warmth to chase away ghosts. Do not underestimate the value of the words of a family member or close friend. They work miracles!

4) Laugh. In difficult times, laughing becomes a very difficult task, right? This is why you have to look for some source of entertainment that allows you to laugh out loud. Even if you want to watch a romantic or poignant movie that is in tune with your mood, opt for a light comedy that makes you laugh. Follow this advice, you will feel much better afterwards.

5) Eat healthily. Yes, of course, healthy foods. Most of the time, someone who has to deal with a heavy workload or write a particularly difficult essay will opt for junk food. This triggers a number of counterproductive consequences, but if you can, prepare a plate of raw vegetables or a colorful mix of seeds, this way your body will get extra energy of better quality and it will be easier for you to stay calm.

6) Pay attention to your breathing. Did you know that fear, anger, despair or fatigue stop breathing for a few moments? This is a physiological response of the body that you can easily avoid if you remember to relax and take deep, conscious breaths, even when you are going through a rather stressful situation. Again, the brain needs oxygen to put your universe in order. Don’t deny it.

7) Achieve goals (however small they are). Sometimes, the only thing you need to re-evaluate yourself is to reach some goal during the day. For example, if you have forgotten the little things due to important work, stop and fix up your room. Curiously, the simple act of keeping an environment tidy, despite the pressure, will make you feel capable of doing many other things and will take them back with more enthusiasm.

As you can see, there are several tips you can follow to ease the pressure you feel about everyday responsibilities. The important thing is not to give up, but to propose to follow these indications which, despite their simplicity, can infuse great comfort.
